"Tricking" or Martial Arts Tricking has been around for a long time, emerging around the 80's within Sport Karate tournaments, but it didn't really take off until the late 90's. Once the 2000's hit, really strong competitors within the circuit started to emerge, and they were pushing the sport to new heights, and they were using "Tricking" to get it done. People like Daniel Sterling, Chris DeVera, Steve Terada, Marc Canonizado, Anthony Atkins, Butch Marks, Manny Brown, and Kalman Csoka started to use more advanced movements than the other competitors, adding flips and twists into their performances, and they pretty much dominated the circuit.
Once people caught wind of this, they became so intrigued in the art of it all, that they started training, because it was unlike any other thing in the world, thus "Tricking" was born.
If you were to take a mix of different Martial Arts such as Wushu, Tae Kwon Do, Karate, Capoeria, some break dancing flair, gymnastic tumbling & acrobatics... and put it into an art form based on a non-contact movement, Martial Arts Tricking is what you would have. (Sesshoumaru, 2009)
The easiest way to think of tricking is if you took either a Martial Arts Form, and added a whole load of flips and twists, or a Gymnastics floor routine and added a whole load of kicks. Below are some picture showing what Tricking invloves, and a video that I think shows just how remarkable Tricking really is.

From the video above you can also see that Tricking is about personal expression and creativity so each tricker will have their own unique characteristics, therefore no tricker will ever trick with the exact same style and personality as another. This makes tricking extremely varied so there isn’t specifically one way to trick. This makes it even more exciting when meeting or teaching new Trickers as everyone can add their own unique touch.
